Last update @ 1:00PM CST --
remember to hit refresh for the most current page.
For more information on this
patch, Maggie has her event summary up which has many very snazzy
pictures of the new items. Check it out at http://www.thejackcat.com/AC/Culture/Dereth/Enemies2.htm

Here is the portal.dat (portal
dat by Optim Shi & Nih thanks!) update. Items which we have
discovered have been placed on a white background.
I begin with an appology to
everyone who is not credited or credited innappropriately.
This document is a creation of the posts many people have made
and many people have posted without providing proper
credit. Also for some very minor information such as
isolated spawn reports or housing locations providing credit
would too burden this document.
September 2001: Keep
Your Enemies Closer
- Unconfirmed Info
- Calling Stones
Decay Now.
- Nukem Reports:
Whilst running sw from Samsur towards Tufa, as i
entered the desert I found a Monouge Spawn. One
of them was blue, and called Monouga Leader.
- Suggestion by
Cordelia Lear (Really on the ball observation
Cordelia! I've marked out the robes on the
portal.dat)
- Ok...
having just fought the Subtle Simulacra,
could it be that the unfound robes in the
portal.dat file are for the robes that
the simulacra wear? Maybe, since they
have to be outfitted with some sort of
outfit, Turbine had to make the whole kit
and cabootle for the robes they wear
(icons, full range of colors, etc). Just
a guess...
- The green scroll is
a Writ of Refugee, for housing when acdm comes
out, no use right now =) [High Tide]
- Ashmael sends this
bizarre report of a new drudge.
- Still seeking
information on
- The bone mace
- Where oh where are
our relic bones?
- What drops the hide
in the portal.dat? (The dm dog-like creature?)
- What is the upside
down triangle thing? (probably a planter or
something for housing)
- New Additions
- I should have noted
the Drudge vagabond was removed because it
existed prior to this patch.
- Added to Northern
Osteth Spawns.
- Enhanced picture of
the "Pure One"
- Added a new typo
under bugs
- Corrected the
spelling of Ursuin
- Corrected the
spelling of Golem.
- Added coordinates
of an Obsidian Plains Mansion.
- Added more North
Dires Spawns
- Corrected spelling
of Leikotha's Crypt
- --------------------------------------------------------
- Had the credit for
the obsidian axe wrong, changed to Miracle Forest
(Sorry Miracle & thanks Maggie for pointing
this out!)
- Added additional
location information for "The Pure One"
- Added a few more
bugs
- Added more monsters
to the Obsidian Plains
- Removed Drudge
Vagabond as a new monster (it existed prior to
this patch)

Notes
- Tumeroks seem to
have retreated from many areas or have become
very rare.
- Colors have
changed due to a graphics
bug in last month's release. The tumeroks
you see today are the way they're
supposed to be.
- Report by
Marty of Wgw
- I
have continued to hunt Mask Clan
Tumeroks in the Southern Dires,
in the general area of Garaena
the Emissary. I have found that
the spawns on the Commander,
Lieutenants, Standard Bearers,
Majors, and so forth (associated
with the Coin/Assault Weapon
Quest from August) still exist in
that area, but their numbers are
reduced.
- Gems of
Wealth have new icons. (the three new
gems in the portal.dat file)
- Assault
Weapon NPCs now accept Tumerok Insignia.
- Still
no new weapons -- don't change in
those tokens yet.
- Recall Sanctuary
& Aerlinthe Works (No lockup on use)
- Burden Changes
- The weight
of crowns have been reduced (100bu).
- Gorgets
have been reduced in weight (150bu ave --
thanks kuku!)
- Steel chests now
spawn in the direlands not only on the obsidian
plains.
- Vertigo
notes that this is actually an old change
and happened when we killed the speaker
during the caul event. However given the
difficulty of the new obsidian plains
I'll leave this up so mages know they
don't have to brave the obsidian plains
to get their scrolls.
- Maggie is reporting
that diyas al-yat the virindi translator npc in
zachail now does a unique emote that
involves removing his head letting purple virindi
energy spew forth. Hmmm....
- The housing icons
in the portal.dat file
- Sorlac
speculates the first two icons in the
portal dat are new creatures (Peacock and
wild dog)
- Rojon of
Harvestgrain Reports: Ok, we all know
about the crystal items outside homes and
their icon, but the "house"
icons can be found when you select the
'invisible' house items as the same name
as the crystal that are located interior
to the home.
These items can only be seen and selected
with the use of a tool like Sixth Sense,
but when examined, the icon is indeed a
miniaturized version of the house as seen
in your Portal.dat file.
- The revs, lichs,
and lich lords do NOT die or take any damage in
the acid pits anymore. (Trigger the Monster)
- New
Housing is on the Landscape
- A new allegiance castle between Nanto and
Hebian-To
- A Smaller House
- The Meadowlands of Asheron's Call, a
planned community.
- See Maggie's Real Estate
Guide for
more housing locations.

- A Note on the
drops. The new monsters do not ALWAYS drop these
items however it appears the boss monsters have a
much better chance than normal to drop their
special items. So even though you may see
"drops sturdy iron key" there is no
guarantee you will get a sturdy iron key, just a
better than average chance of getting one.

- Found near

- Vrai
reports: Found him on the far
north beach of the Sanctuary isle
in the Vesayens, guarded by a
single Magus. He dropped the
Phylactery, an SIK, and a
thighbone, in addition to
standard magus/leech loot. No
syne. Moderate AL, nowhere near
as high as some of the other
stuff. Imperil 6, blud vuln 6,
fester 6. BD6/HS6 on BFA staff,
hit very easily with about 370
staff. Damage was about 35-45, I
think. 322 life landed on him
quite easily.
- Dropped a
large Mnemosyne, SIK, and a thighbone

- At the

will want to get to the
coords 71.1S, 35.6E, when
you get here use your
over-head map (enter on
numeric keypad) and look
for the grey
"Tundra" like
area (This area is huge
it is hard to miss.)
There are massive
ammounts of Great, Dread,
and Dire Mattekar spawns
there. When you get lucky
enough a Tundra Mattekar
will spawn along with 2
Dire Mattekars. If you
approach slowly chances
are that the Tundra will
come running at you so
you wont even have to
worry about the Dire's.
Hope this helps all the

- Report from
Brash Endevors
- I
have found several in Northern
Osteth. They nearly always seem
to appear in the same spawn
formation: one warlord and about
4-5 gigas. I believe there is
also a black mattekar (dread)
that spawns with them but not
sure as I don't recall seeing it
once (someone might have killed
it maybe).
The warlord is only a few levels
higher than the gigas but I think
much more beefed up. Because all
them boulders HURT, I've taken
lately to imperiling the warlord
and sometimes a few of the gigas,
and taking him out first. The one
time I paid attention, I hit him
twice for 175 then killed on the
third shot, but the imperilled
gigas were one-shotted; maybe he
has higher AL or something.
I found nothing remarkable on him
except higher than average loot,
but I did hear a rumor he is
related to the soul staff. I
think I killed three of them
total in different sections of
the northern region. Unknown if
he also spawns in the south.
He tends to be a more ice-blue
color than the others in the
pack. I am not sure if the dread
mattekar I saw in two of the
spawns is some sort of escort to
him.
- Dread Ursuin (Picture by
Nodoka, thanks!)
- Found in
the south and central Direlands.
- Can
apparently spawn anywhere a Dire
Ursuin can spawn (just rare).
- Yama
Deathlord reports: I have found a
couple, not always same spot, but
same basic area, in the giant
flowers near the Essence of
Verdancy (AKA life scroll
exchanging wisp) which is jst
about due south of the set of
walled portals u get from drunk
guy outside baishi. One actually
spawned with a PAIR of Dire
Ursuins. No coat yet however.

actually quite morbid.

Reed Sharks or Gromnies.
- Plague
Metro reports: it drops the regular hide
that makes leggings, same as adult reed.
- Dark Inferno (Thanks Nodoko!)
- Level 190
- Found on
Obsidian Plains
- Nodoko
writes: Fighting him was just as bad as a
Diamond Lord - between Regen, Healing and
Drains he couldn't be soloed melee even
with Imperil VI, Vuln VI and Fester VI.
With two of us there, one draining his
health non-stop and the other meleeing
him he went down pretty quickly. He
dropped loot with level 5 spells on it,
so same profile as an Umbris I'd guess.

I didn't check how much health
they have, but I would hazard a
guess at between 700-1000.
The difficulty is their
regeneration rate, which lets
them heal back up to full in
about 10-15 seconds. When you're
draining them, you'll be getting
back 30, then 20, then 30, then
40, then 30, ... You can't drain
them below about 20, they'll heal
it back before you can cast
again.
They're not that vuln to
bludgeon, but it works well
enough. If you don't have VII
war, you'll want to have someone
else there to finish the job with
war while you hold the health
down at around 100 with drain
health; the reason being that VI
windup is too long to be able to
reliably kill it. Two hits at the
bottom range of your 60-120, and
the golem will have a good head
start.
The inepts are quite annoying,
but they don't seem to cast them
nearly as often as a diamond
golem. I had three runs at this
one golem, so I'm not talking
about an isolated incident; but
it's still possible that this was
a strange golem.
And they don't always drop
shields :-)
Chance for a melee or archer to
kill them is absolute zero, due
to their high healing rate and
armor. I probably would agree
that this is a disturbing trend,
but I like the way they need us
to get their shield, much like we
need them to get our Chorizite.

Answers: i've
had several items like
this, but they've been
'bugged' like this since
about October 2000. i
contacted server admins
on LC about this at that
point, they didn't care,
so... oh well :)
the 'bug' with this items
works like this (for me,
at least): if item has
mana, put it on, works as
per usual EXCEPT that it
uses only 1 pt of it's
mana as long as it is
equipt..forever. when you
remove/unequip item, it
LOSES all it's mana. just
drop in a cheap 50pt mana
charge and you are ready
to go again, tho. not
specificly tied to my
char, but rather, the
items, as i've moved the
items to other
accounts/friends, and
they still seem to be
possessed like this, for
better or worse.

- Interface
And Graphics Bugs
- Various
bugs related to stretching the UI, best
advice is to just not stretch it until
the bugs are fixed next month.
- If you try
and drag the brown panel next to the new
expanded chat box, it drops you to
desktop
- We
have discovered a bug that if a
player extends their chat window
and then goes into full screen
(i.e., make it so your left panel
goes away), they can crash their
client if they try to manually
extend that window by clicking
and dragging the bar up. This bar
cannot be raised manually.
- If you are
hung in portal space try setting /render
radius to 14 or less, radius > 14
causes hangs.
- Coordinates
under radar "break" if you turn
them off and back on again
- Sri
Says: If I turn them on, I get
both when I have my right panel
open, but only get East/West
portion when my right panel is
closed
- Restarting
AC from scratch fixed the
problem of the Radar
Coords only showing the
East/West.
- Many ID
related bugs this month
- Salmoneus:
Un-assessed monsters HP %age does
not always decrease, although hit
point bar does.
- After
casting spells on an item you
must close and re-id the item to
see the spells. (Aten)
- Icons
not showing up in the appraisal
box. (Aten)
- Appraisal
box does not reset based on
distance. (Aten)
- Decimal
says: When i fight and cant cast
a spell because im out of comps,
i normally rightclick the spell
on the spellbar to id and see
which pea i need to split. The
rightpanel would pop up and show
the spell info + the icons for
the comps needed with the missing
comps greyed out.
Now, when you rightclick, the
infopanel pops up, but the
graphical icons for the spell
doesnt show up until you
rightclick the spell another
time.
Ohh, I use stretched UI and i
believe it is connected to this.
- Several
people have noted the camera angles seem
to have changed (so it's not just you)
